Ape Dream Interpretation and Meaning
If you have been visited by an ape in your dream, it may be an indication that your recent behavior may have been somewhat overly exuberant or excited. Or it could mean that you are compensating in the dream world for some rigid qualities you experience in your waking life. Apes are powerful symbols of the primitive impulse, instinct, wildness, and sexual energy.
Whenever you see a powerful wild animal in your dream – and the ape is one of the most powerful – you are being shown something about the inhibitions – or lack thereof – in your personality. After all, you can behave in a more uninhibited way in your dreams than you can in your “real” life.
Seeing an ape in a dream may also be a warning, particularly about deceit or troubles with your love life. Apes in dreams sometimes mean that the people in your life are trying to deceive you by telling lies that will cause considerable problems. The dream ape could signify false business promises.
The interpretation of the dream ape depends on how the ape presents itself in the dream. Does it appear to be gentle in its demeanor, or is it frightening, sinister, and mean? A gentle ape suggests that you want to be able to act more naturally in your life, to return to those things associated with a simpler, more bucolic time. A sinister ape, on the other hand, is a warning of trouble or a symbol of a dark part of your personality that you’ve repressed. Are you being selfish in your relationships, perhaps focusing on your own gratification –sexual or otherwise – without considering the other person?
Apes in dreams may symbolize the instinctive and intuitive elements of your personality. Human beings have lost directness and the ability to experience the “oneness” of the world that wild animals possess. Dreaming of one of the wildest of wild animals – the ape – could signal a need to get down to basics, to trust your feelings about things, and to worry less about what others may think of you.
