Bee Dream Interpretation and Meaning
Bees have a long history as symbols in many cultures. For some ancient cultures, the bee symbolized the Goddess or Great Mother. In ancient Egypt, the bee was symbolic of wisdom, obedience, and regeneration. Kings in the Merovingian era had gold bees entombed with them to help them in the after life, while Napoleon of France is famous for having the image of bees embroidered on his ceremonial robes. For Napoleon, the bee symbolized resurrection and immortality. Freemasons consider the bee to represent industry, and language itself is full of bee references: “busy as a bee,” for example.
It is not surprising, given the strong incorporation of the bee in the Jungian collective unconscious, that the little insect is very likely to turn up in a dream. Things associated with bees – beehive, honey, honeycomb, bee sting – are also common dream symbols. In general, a bee dream is a lucky dream and represents good things to come in all your efforts.
To dream of honey is symbolic of transformation, such as changing a career goal or relationship so it become “sweeter,” just as bees make honey from the pollen they collect. Honey also represents a reward for work you’ve completed. Dreaming of a bee sting may indicate that you have been hurt (stung) by a relationship or other situation in your life or that you will experience an event that will cause your feelings to be hurt. Since a bee dies when it stings, the dream of a bee sting may also symbolize a sacrifice you’re making for something you value.
When you dream of a bee (or bees), the dream is associated with ideas like industriousness, action, communication, and choosing what you really want out of life. Bees in dreams are symbolic of the spiritual aspects of industriousness (the honey) and may indicate your readiness to communicate with your spiritual side.
The dream bee is associated with pollination as well, and you may want to consider the things you are “pollinating” in your life – do you have a good attitude toward life? Are you enjoying the good things life has to offer? Or do you tend to have unproductive (“unpollinated”) thoughts and attitudes? On the other hand, dreaming of a bee could mean that you are unable to be calm and serene or that you need a rest from working too hard.
Because bees have a complex method of communication, dreaming of bees sometimes indicates that you need to focus on your social networking and keep in closer communication with the people in your life. Dream bees suggest that you make improvements in how you communicate with others.
The number of bees in a dream and the appearance of a beehive are important symbols, since numbers have their own symbolic associations, and the beehive represents efficient structure and order, especially in the home. If you dream of bees in a beehive, it means that you need to organize your home more effectively. A dream of many bees flying together suggests that you will receive benefits and rewards from hard work. If the bee in your dream is collecting honey, it is symbolic of a deep connection in a love relationship.
