Martyr Dream Interpretation and Meaning
Dream of Being a Martyr
If you dream of being a martyr, your dream may be suggesting that you are more in tune with the needs of others and often neglect yourself. It is very easy to get caught up in the “taking care of others” role, and while you may get some superficial benefits from it, neglecting yourself for the sake of others is not healthy. If you are dreaming of being a martyr, your sub-conscious is definitely trying to tell you something.
To see if you are living the martyr lifestyle in your waking life, ask yourself a few questions. Do you have a hard saying “no”? Do you often put aside your own feelings, wants and/or desires for the sake of someone else’s? Have you put your life on the back burner in order for your child, spouse, partner, friend, boss or even parent to get what they want out of life? Do you even feel that you don’t deserve happiness?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, you may be a martyr to others. You may not even know you are doing it, but you put yourself second in all things. If you think you’re a martyr, ask yourself what you get out of it. Do you feel superior because you can put yourself second all the time? Do you believe that people will like you better if you give them what they want?
Helping out others is definitely admirable and noble, but neglecting oneself doesn’t do anyone any good, especially you. So remember, to dream of being a martyr suggests that that is just what you are; it can also mean you lack self-love and aren’t able to forgive yourself.
