Pirate Dream Interpretation and Meaning

Pirate Dreams Bring Adventure

Dreaming about a pirate is a way to see that your life is being negatively affected by someone or something. There is a situation going on, or there is a person, that is affecting your life in an unhealthy way. You feel the chaos that the situation of person is causing and you feel like your life is being hijacked by it all.

Another meaning is that the person affecting your life is taking away your sense of integrity. They may also be stealing your creativity in some way. If someone has hijacked a project or other creative venture of yours, the pirate will symbolize this theft of creativity.

There is an alternate meaning to a pirate dream. If the pirate is a classic pirate that looks like it came from a storybook, the dream may symbolize your wish for adventure and excitement. There may be a specific venture you are embarking on that will provide you with that excitement, or you may simply be wishing for excitement in general. That excitement is something that you feel will enrich your life and make you feel freer. You may not have known how much you were craving freedom and excitement, but your subconscious is showing you a literal view of what you want to feel like.

  1. This is how I’ve been feeling lately. I want to bring chased out of my mansion by pirates and then having to become a pirate just to get away from them and start my life over. In my dream I was still trying to get back what I had even though the chase was kind of fun. I was also frustrated and scared because I didn’t understand why they were doing what they were doing. I enjoyed my peace and they were trying to steal it away from me. I was fighting back so I could keep my peace and joy.

  2. This is exactly how I’ve been feeling lately. Both interpretations apply to me. I was chased out of my dream mansion by pirates and then having to become a pirate just to get away from them, start my life over and take back what was mine. In my dream I was still trying to get back what I had even though the chase was kind of fun with my dream comrades helping me along the way. I was also frustrated and scared because I didn’t understand why they were doing what they were doing. I enjoyed my peace and they were trying to steal it away from me. I was fighting back so I could keep my peace and joy.

  3. I have had a recurring nightmare since I was little. It starts off with me tied up on a pirate ship. I’m panicking. The pirates come. They always start yelling at me as if I had done something really bad. One always has either a green or red parrot on their shoulder. Then they untie me. My clothes are all torn and shredded as if i had been in a battle or something. This dream always gives me anxiety. The pirates grab me and take me to the deck of the ship where the plank is. They make me get on it and expecting me to walk on it. I don’t, but then they pull out swords and make me walk. I look down and see a bunch of piranhas and sharks. They don’t look normal, though. They have very exaggerated features such as all the scary parts of them almost triple in size. I’m so nervous. I tiptoe on the plank, then as soon as i jump I wake up. Everytime I wake up i’m filled with the same nerve and anxiety I had in the dream. I hate that dream so much.

  4. For a few years I’ve been having reoccurring dreams once in a while. I wake up on a pirate ship. Old fashioned-storybook pirate ghosts roam the ship and I see grusome things but a few nights ago when I had this dream again, there was something else that happend it was really weird. So with the ghosts around me I take hold of the pirate ship and after some boating around the eerie ocean I find a sorta raft, with a small shack on it, just floating there. I go inside and there are still living people inside in cloths from the reveolutionary war. They tell me someone tricked them into the place and pushed them out to sea. I bolenteer to find civilization. They tell em to go south, so I do and I find land; two mansions, they were VERY detailed with beautiful gardens. In the garden I find a man, dressed old timey, on the phone! (Liek I said, weird) he hangs up and after I ask for help he decides to introduce me to his next-door neighbor when his neighbor answers I find out that The neighbor is the one that drifted those people out to sea, he runs inside, and I throw rocks at his house. Then I wake up. I don’t know why I’m writing this. I guess I just needed to vent. It is true I do crave adventure and I fell as though I’m being held back. What should I do???

  5. I had the same dream when I was young. Almost every night for years. I was standing on a local football pitch at night time in the dark holding a block of crumbling polystyrene (styrofoam)
The side of the football pitch was a forest and every now and again a pirate which I seem to recall as Captain Hook would run towards me trying to catch me. I’d throw the block of polystyrene down and it would hover. It was chunky but just big enough to fit both of my feet on.
I’d jump on it and start to float away on it but as much as I tried to get higher I was only just centimetres from his hook lashing out at me. My balance was also really bad and I was terrified I was going to fall. I’d eventually get higher and just out of reach and the pirate would go back into the tree’s at the side and I’d float back down and stand on the pitch holding the block until it happened again. This would repeat over and over. I’m 33 now and it’s still completely engraved in my mind.
