Tarantula Dream Interpretation and Meaning

Share

The spider, in general, is a strong dream archetype. For the ancient Greeks, Arachne was a weaver who challenged the goddess Minerva to a weaving contest. Although Arachne was skilled, her story suggests that mortals pay a price for thinking they are as good as the gods: Minerva transformed Arachne into a spider.

In the Celtic culture, prisoners learn patience and persistence from the spider, which rebuilds a web every time it is torn down. For Native Americans, the spider is associated with history and is a link to the future. In India, the spider is thought to weave the web of illusion and is associated with the moon and the alternation of birth and death.

The spider is a nearly universal symbol of Fate: a teacher, a destroyer, and a trickster.

Dreaming of a tarantula suggests that you are surrounded by enemies who will bring you some type of loss. The dream tarantula may also symbolize the “dark” side of your personality or predict poor health or a disappointing love affair.

A spider (tarantula) dream usually symbolizes someone in your waking life who is sneaky and cruel. It could also represent someone who is smothering you. The dream spider may be telling you that you should become more self-aware as well.

A tarantula dream is a significant and spiritual dream that is encouraging you to investigate the meaning of life. The tarantula suggests that everything is connected and that you should be more strongly aware of how you fit into the world.

As in all dreams, the feelings you have about spiders influence the meaning of the symbol. If you fear spiders, the tarantula will have negative associations, such as being trapped in a bad situation. If you view the tarantula as a symbol of connection, it will mean that you should integrate yourself into your environment.

The dream tarantula could also symbolize the number 8 in a dream or be linked to hidden fears. If you kill a tarantula in your dream, it means you will succeed after suffering through a period of bad luck.

  • My dream started off driving through a tropical forest, bright colored plants and as I looked out the side window I noticed the trees covered in webs and large spiders on them. I kept looking and more and more giant spiders(tarantulas) there were. My dad, which I haven't seen in 5 years and my sis that I haven't seen in two years were with me. My sister freaked out and asked "are those really tarantulas in the trees?!?" my dad said "yup, dont worry". Then one landed on the wind shield, my dad sped up, the tarantula flew back into the bed of the pickup.

we got to our destination and I noticed the tarantula was free. My sister freaked out, I told her its ok, its not gonna get you. Then I knelt down and I spoke to it, I said "you're not going to hurt us cause we dont want to hurt you buddy". Then a bigger bright yellow tarantula with no fir jumped on the tarantula. the yellow one had three fangs and bit into the tarantula, killing it. The yellow one ran off. Then I woke up. What does this dream mean??

    • I think it's a metaphor. The dark tarantula, as we've read in this article, represents the dark side of your personality. And the fact that you don't want to kill it demonstrates a gentle personality full of wisdom and harmony and intellect as allowing the light to dominate your actions. The color yellow can also represent these three qualities. Perhaps the yellow spider represented the light/spiritual side destroying the dark side. The fact that it had three fangs can also be a giveaway that it's your spiritual side, as the number 3 is a spiritual number. I may be wrong, but that's what I take from it.

    • Dreams are a compilation of what the brain has processed. We are, as humans, completely incapable of taking a look at the whole picture. Interpreting dreams is more of a process of stepping back and looking at our lives from a distance to make an accurate analysis of what is truly going on.

    • Um, actually...yes! We do believe in "spirits" and crystals. Oh, I see, you're one of those people, probably a man, who doesn't remember his dreams, right?

  • Wow wtf on point.
I'm from Hawaii, there's no tarantulas there IRL and in my dream I was in my childhood home back in Hawaii.
    Generally, I don't like spiders

    Dream:
I can home and the person I was living there with brought home a pet tarantula. Terrified but wanting to have an open mind, my goal was to keep it in the house and keep it alive for my roommate's sake...? Eventually I became less afraid of it then as I was exiting a door out the house the tarantula scurried along a wall towards me while I closed the door. I was able to stop it with a couple legs escaping the top space at the door and frame, trying to gently stop it from going outside, it gets crushed. And I go to notify my roommate that the spider is dead.

My dream last night was i was in some sort of house or work shop-area that was a pet store and seemed to have uv lights ontop of tanks with pets and i went to grab a tarantula cos i wanted one (and love spiders irl) so i set them free (they were 2 mexican red knee spiders, both the size of a football) and they crawled down the tank and would alternate from breakneck speeds to casual walking (breakneck being the speed of a dog running) so talked to my mum saying "see they arnt so bad". after this i remember just laying on the floor with feet curled and they ran straight under my feet and snuggle under there were i lay.

Also, earlier in the dream i dreamt of renting this dodgy drug-den looking apartment and i walked up 1 flight of stairs to my unit and my neighbour (who sort of looked like a homosexual serial killer ice poseidon) death stared at me as i was unlocking my door to get to my unit (he's door was next to mine and he was outisde his unit and the stare was sort of a one brow up wide eye stare) so i went inside and it was a shit box like a 5 by 9 shitty appartment that was very dirty and messy. After that I had strong vibes, feelings and voices hinting twoards lines like "You know your gong to die soon, you know your going to die tonight, that guy wants to kill you, that guy is going to kill you..."

  • My dream was of my sister (can you believe that) the world's scarest person of any kind of legged creature picked up a big black tarantula off my bed and chased me around the house to finally throwing it on me laughing as I'm screaming in fear. I woke up distorted and feeling lost as if this really just happened and looking around for the darn spider. "Really pulling for hopes of this dream interpretation being for the good & not the bad" (which I didn't mention, the night before me and my sister had an falling out....)
